Locust Grove Petite Counted Cross Stitch Sampler Kit
In the past, samplers were stitched by young girls to practice and display embroidery skills. Many of these sampler patterns and designs were handed down from one generation to the next. Today, samplers have been revived as reminders of our heritage. The motif of this petite sampler features Locust Grove, an early Kentucky Georgian-style home that was built by William and Lucy Clark Croghan. General George Rogers Clark, conqueror of the Old Northwest Territory spent the last nine years of his life with his sister Lucy and her family at Locust Grove. Another brother, William Clark of Lewis and Clark, was a frequent visitor.
