Experience the other side of Locust Grove as you accompany the Croghan family’s enslaved laundress and enslaved distillery assistant throughout the house and outbuildings as they go about their daily routines. This tour will immerse you in the year 1816 as you witness the sights, smells, and sounds of a 19th century farm all while learning about lives and stories of the enslaved individuals at Locust Grove. The program will cover the realities and truths of enslaved life in 19th century Kentucky.
Unfolding the Story takes place inside on two floors of the historic house and outside, in and around the historic outbuildings. It is 90-minute experience and includes walking and standing, with some seating available. For questions or accommodations, please call 502.897.9845.

There are stairs to get into the house, as well as a full flight of steep steps within. Much of this tour is outside; we will travel over gravel, mulch, uneven grounds, and possibly wet grass. This experience may not be suitable for people at all levels of mobility.
