Chawton Cottage “Old Fashioned Garden"
Cottage gardens in the 1800 were really called “Old Fashioned Gardens.” They encompassed all types of flowers, perennials, annuals wildflowers, and included orchards, strawberries, gooseberries, raspberries, and vegetables, and were situated very near the house. Mrs. Austen was the chief family gardener, but the family also had a hired male gardener to assist with heavy work. I am very excited to offer you a beautiful collection of flowers, wildflowers, and fruit that might have inspired even Jane!!! The ribbons chosen for these little works of art are mostly vintage and usually not available because of how special they are to me!
Finding just the right ribbon for each flower is important and requires time and patience. There are four different flowers, including a Pansy, an Anthemis daisy a Strawberry plant and two chou Wild Roses. .A variety of different types of ribbon including many vintage choices make this collection very special!!! Hand colored visual sketches and printed instructions for each special technique designed especially for this collection will make completion in 3-4 hours enjoyable.
